Na carreta / On trailer.

Hoje, com a ajuda da Gê e do skate, o veleirinho foi levado para a carreta. Fixei os suportes dos remos, testei a lona azul da foto que servirá de capa e fiquei mais um tantinho feliz em ver o bicho lá quase pronto. Coloquei o bambu de reforço dentro do mastro gentilmente cedido pelo Dr. Demosthenes, meu pai. Valeu paizão ! Agradecimentos também a meu tio Hermógenes (sim, meus avós eram criativos com nomes) que deu dicas valiosas para o tratamento do bambu. Por falta de tempo farei no próximo reforço.

Não dará tempo de trabalhar nos detalhes pois dia 09/11 tem estréia em Tarituba - Paraty/RJ. Mas acredito que a parte funcional já está garantida. Vamos que vamos !


Today, with the help of Ge and a skateboard, the little vessel was taken to its trailer. I fixed the supports of the oars, tested the blue canvas of the photo that will be the cover and was once more trifle happy to admire it almost ready. I also put the bamboo reinforcement inside the mast courtesy of Dr. Demosthenes, my father. Thanks daddy! Thanks also to my uncle Hermogenes (yes, my grandparents were creative with names) who gave valuable tips for the treatment of bamboo. For lack of time, will be done in the next reinforcement.

Won't have time to work on details. Nov 9th will be the debut at Tarituba - Paraty / RJ. But I believe that the functional part is already guaranteed. Here we go!

Sem máquina de costura / No sewing machine.

Uma semana para a estréia, com a vela para fazer, a máquina de costura resolveu quebrar. Para ajudar hoje é feriado e tudo relacionado ao tema está fechado. Mas ... para tudo tem um jeito. Resolvi costurar os 4 cantos na mão mesmo. Até que foi divertido. O resultado não ficou lá aquela costura bonita, mas está funcional e já pude aplicar os ilhoses nos 4 cantos da vela. Estimo uns 50% de andamento na vela como um todo. Um dia que começou dando errado até que não terminou mal.

A week for the premiere, with the sail to make and the sewing machine decided to break. Add to that today's holiday and everything related to the topic is closed. But ... there's a way for everything. I decided to hand sew the 4 corners. So that was fun. The result was not that professional look sewing, but is functional and I've been able to apply the eyelets in the 4 corners of the sail. I estimate about 50% progress in sailing as a whole. Not bad for a day that started going wrong.

Faltam alguns detalhes e a vela / A few details and sail missing.

Um barco artesanal nunca está pronto. Mas chega o momento em que queremos ir para a água. Para atingir este objetivo estão faltando os seguintes itens:

- Costurar a vela.
- Suporte dos remos.
- Reforço da espicha que veio com uma região oxidada.
- Reforço interno no mastro (bambú).
- Suporte do motor de popa.
- Fixação do elástico do leme.

Quase lá !

A homemade crafted boat is never ready. But the time comes when we want to go into the water. To achieve this goal are missing the following items:

- Sew the sail.
- Support of the oars.
- Strengthening of the sprit that came with a rusted area.
- Strengthening the internal mast (bamboo).
- Support of the outboard.
- Fixing the elastic rudder.

A Piccup do Mike / Mike's Piccup

Correndo o risco de elevar o padrão para níveis que não conseguirei atingir, faço aqui minha homenagem ao Mike Quiley.

Desde o começo da construção trocamos mensagens no grupo do Yahoo do Michalak e o Mike sempre me ajudou com as dúvidas, me incentivou na construção e agora, gentilmente, me enviou as fotos do seu recém terminado barco. Coisas que só quem constrói um barco vai realmente entender o que significa. Muito obrigado meu amigo !

At the risk of raising standards to levels I won't be able to achieve here is my tribute to Mike Quigley.

Since the very beginning of the build we exchanged messages on the Michalak's  Yahoo Group and he always helped me with any questions, encouraged me to build and now, kindly has sent me photos of his recently completed boat. Things that only someone who builds a boat will fully understand. Thank you my friend!

Esta semana, depois de resolver o problema da governadura do leme utilizando dobradiças de porta, iniciei a pintura do casco.

This week, after solving the problem of pintles and gudgeons for the rudder using door hinges, I started painting the hull.

Como o trabalho envolve virar o barco constantemente para ganhar tempo, pintando internamente e por fora, resolvi pendura-lo para auxiliar nas manobras.

As the work involves turning the boat constantly to gain time, painting inside and out, I decided to hang it to assist in maneuvering.

Primeira demão aplicada e os defeitos de cobertura da resina aparecem. Algum lixamento resolve, mas se fosse deixar perfeito teria que gastar um monte de resina. Vamos velejar....

Primer applied and the resin cover defects appear. Some sanding solves part of it, but to make it perfect I would spend much more resin. Let's go sailing ....

Domingo chuvoso. / Rainy Sunday.

Depois de um longo período de seca hoje choveu em São Paulo. Bom para o ar. Ruim para secar as resinas e tintas.

As latas de tintas estão fazendo peso sobre o deck para que a resina colocada por baixo se molde adequadamente.

After a long drought it rained today in Sao Paulo. Good for air. Bad to dry resins and paints.

The paint cans are making weight on the deck so that the resin is placed beneath mold properly.

Um veleiro sobre rodas / A sailboat on wheels.

O post de hoje é dedicado aos amigos do Vela Pop (https://www.facebook.com/groups/310479589055721/) que estão empolgados com a idéia de fazer um landsailer/kartsailer ou veleiro sobre rodas. Como já me decidi pela água e a adaptação seria difícil, usei as rodas com o objetivo para o qual foram criadas originalmente: facilitar o trabalho.

A carreta ficou pronta. Fui pegá-la hoje na Guarapiranga.

Quando cheguei em casa ficou difícil de movimentar o barco no corredor. Aproveitei o skate e lancei uma nova modalidade: skateboating ! Esta vai para o Jasiel Calixto e seu fantástico projeto BoArvore !

Primeira aparição pública / First public appearance

Hoje foi um dia bastante cansativo em termos de direção no trânsito. Saí cedo pela manhã em direção à região da Guarapiranga, onde será feita a carreta para o veleirinho (40km de distância com tráfego pesado). Peguei a carreta, voltei para a zona norte, peguei o barco, levei para a zona sul e voltei para a zona norte. Até o carro não aguentou. Acendeu a luz da injeção eletrônica. O que isso significa ? Gasto no mecânico.

Mas foi divertido carregar o barquinho pelas ruas de São Paulo. Um medo danado de alguém abalroar a criação...hehehe.

Today was pretty tiring in terms of direction in traffic. I left early morning towards the region of Guarapiranga, where the trailer will be made (40km away with heavy traffic). I grabbed a spare trailer, I returned to the north, took the boat, took it to the south and back to north. Even the car could not stand. Kindled the light of electron injection. What does this mean? Spent at the mechanic.

But it was fun driving the boat through the streets of São Paulo. I was damned scared of someone ramming my beloved creation ... hehehe.

Luis me ensinou muitos nós legais e práticos.  Graças a ele amarramos o barco na carreta em 10 minutos, incluindo as aulas de nós. Eu não levaria menos de 30.

Luis taught me many cool and practical knots. Thanks to him we tied the boat on trailer in 10 minutes, including the knots classes. I would not take less than 30.

Um dia bastante quente e com tráfego pesado.

Destino: fábrica de reboque. O barco ficará lá esta semana para que o berço da carreta seja produzido de acordo com as curvaturas do casco.

Errei de novo / Blundered again.

Nada muito grave, mas vai ficar aquela marca para lembrar que pressa nem sempre faz você fazer algo mais rápido.

Havia medido o ponto de furar a bolina de forma errada. E para montar o suporte superior é preciso furar. Olha ai como ficou. Sobrou bolina para cima.

Nothing too serious, but will get the mark on leeboard to remember that haste does not always make you do something faster. I had measured the pivot point of the leeboard wrongly. And to mount the upper guard you must first drill the hole. Look at it below. Too much leeboard above gunwales.

Por este angulo dá para ver que é necessário descer mais o bolina.

Subi o furo 1 polegada. Quando for resinar o outro lado da bolina irei preencher o furo de baixo com resina.
