Well dear reader. Certain things we should not even write here. But a masochistic male with guts gives face to slap. And I hope that this serves as a warning to anyone. In the previous episode left sticking the upper the mast support. I knew I could have problems with the epoxy putty in the holes drilled to screws, but I had drawn the strategy. Take the excess even with the epoxy still uncured with the screw itself .... and if anything was left still, hammering the screw would break the hardened epoxy. Genius! All predictable. 3 out of the 4 holes passed unharmed. In the last (must always be the last!) I saw that there was obstruction and started hammering with the rubber mallet, carefully. You know what happens when you hammer and nothing happens? You hammer stronger! And stronger! And stronger! And then you hear the sound of breaking. Perfect! Predictable! Planned ! What? Sound of wood falling on the hull? Where did that come from? Look at the mess there. Broke!
Lições de hoje: 1) epóxi é MUITO mais forte que madeira ! Nunca esqueça disso. 2) Se laminar madeira procure NÃO manter a mesma orientação dos grãos das camadas. Isto enfraquece o conjunto como dá para notar pela foto.
Adubo devidamente feito, passamos ao que deu certo:
Lixei o interior todo para aplicação de fibra (leve) no piso interno. Cortei o excesso das ripas do costado, abri as janelas nos decks de proa e popa e cortei as ripinhas que serão a borda da tampa.
Lessons learnt today: 1) epoxy is MUCH stronger than wood! Never forget that. 2) When laminating wood look NOT to keep the same grain orientation of the layers. This weakens the set as can be seen in the photo. Manure properly done, we move on to what worked: sanded the whole interior for application of fiber (light weight) in the internal floor. I cut the excess of the side slats, open the windows in the decks fore and aft and cut the little slats that will be the edge of the lid.

Terminei também o lixamento do leme, cabeça do leme e da bolina. Próxima etapa é voltar a fazer meleca e selar tudo com fibra e epóxi.
Also finished sanding the rudder, rudder head and leeboard. Next step is to clean the mess and seal everything with fiber and epoxy.

Dica, coloque graxa nos parafusos perto da porca entes de colar, se for cobrir com fita a cola vai ou pode caminha pela rosca.

Wa Mor, os paióis de popa e proa serão apenas pintados de acordo com o projeto. Não vejo necessidade de fibra pois aumentaria o custo e o peso do barco.
